Our Commitment to Your Child’s Safety Under NSW’s New Child Safety Program

Updated: Aug 13

At Kidz Prints Preschool, your child’s safety is the foundation of everything we do. As NSW launches its new Child Safety Regulatory Priority Program, we want to share how we’re not just meeting these standards but exceeding them to create a haven where every child thrives.

What Is the NSW Child Safety Program?

This 12-month initiative by the NSW Department of Education focuses on:

Embedding child-safe cultures in all early childhood services.

Prioritising five safety themes: staffing/supervision, reporting, physical environments, relationships, and online safety.

Providing resources and training to uplift sector-wide practices.

Our Action Plan: Safety in Every Step

Here’s how we’re translating these priorities into daily practice at Kidz Prints:

Enhanced Staff Training & Supervision

All educators complete mandatory Child Safe ECEC e-learning modules, with refreshers on child protection.

Educators are completing a series of self-assessments each week to support our commitment to making child safety everyone’s responsibility.

Stricter Educator to Children high ratios are maintained beyond regulatory minimums as always, and staff recruitment now includes deeper Working with Children Check verifications under NSW’s reformed system.

Safer Physical & Digital Spaces

Reviewing all supervision points in the indoor and outdoor environments to ensure no blind spots.

Monthly Safety and WHS checks.

Review and improve all Children Safety related policies and procedures.

Digital safety: Staff (including students and volunteers) must not have personal devices capable of taking images or videos on their person while they are with children.

Service-issued devices (with encrypted storage) are used for learning imagery, aligned with the new National Model Code.
